Fremont Hemp Co. FHC is Really a Story about Cage and James. Cage and James crossed paths as they were frolicking through Volunteer Park on a summer day in Seattle, where the second annual Hempfest was taking place. Cage perched low in a tree as she listened intently to the speaker on stage. James panted nervously and stared up into the abyss that was the tree where Cage lay hidden among the leaves. The man on stage spoke on and on about Hemp. This was some plant that was gonna solve the renewable energy mystery, save ancient forests, clean up rivers, and feed the hungry. So Cage crawled down, looked at the boy, James, and said something silently that only cats and dogs really understand. They fell asleep nestled nose to nose on the grass as music filled the park and the frolickers continued in their frolics. In the ensuing years Cage and James sailed the globe in search of hemp. They found it. By 1994, one of the only places they couldn't find hemp flourishing in the fields was America! In time, their trusty sloop, Soma, brought them to Fremont, where they began selling their hempen treasures out of an old Texaco building in the middle of town. James handled interior design and marketing and Cage did the books. Despite the long hours, begging for scraps from the taco hut next door, and the occasional spraying fests that Cage is prone to, the pair relished in their roles as educators of hemp awareness. You can get in touch with James and Cage daily at the 'ol Fremont Hemp Company in the "Center of the Universe".
